Volunteer Appreciation
28th December 2018A Christmas dinner took place on Wednesday at Cafe Fergus to honour the hard work and dedication of our Meals on Wheels volunteers. The South Clare Meals on Wheels service runs 6 days a week delivering to the areas of Newmarket on Fergus, Quin, Clarecastle, Doora, Dangan, Kilkishen, Kilmurray, Sixmilebridge, Cratloe and Bunratty. Our team of nearly 30 volunteers are coming from all walks of life and we are so lucky that they offer so much of their time, energy and experience to this important role. Volunteering is an enriching experience for everyone involved and it is so important to keep active and engaged in the community after retirement.
A beautiful 3 course Christmas dinner was served up to the volunteers and plenty of merriment followed with recitals of songs and stories. Councillor Mary Howard joined in on the festive fun and spent plenty of time chatting with the volunteers as well as getting a full view of the work we carry out and the quality of the service we deliver. This celebration was just a small thank you for everything the volunteers offer to the service.
