Welcome to Cafe Fergus
Café Fergus opened its doors in the heart of the village in 2010. Since then, it has proven to be a true community café bringing a vibrant social hub to Newmarket-on-Fergus and its surrounding areas. Café Fergus complements all the other services offered by Obair as we share our purpose-built premises.
Your Community Cafe:
Cafe Fergus opened in April 2010 and closed its doors in March 2020 due to Covid 19. Just shy of being opened for 10 years Café Fergus was a true community hub in the heart of the village.
Highlights:
In 2014 after a huge swell of online support Café Fergus reached the final of Goodall’s Best Scone competition and now holds the title of one of Ireland’s Top Ten Scones.
Great Heart…
The South Clare Meals on Wheels service also operated from Café Fergus. Meals were produced here so that clients could enjoy a fresh, home cooked dinner daily. This service has since moved its operation to The Tradaree Building on Main St, our new premises which opened in Autumn 2020.
The Café also produced healthy, nutritious meals for the children of the After-School service and Ballycar National School as part of the School Meals Programme and Hot School Meals Programmes. These services have also since moved to The Tradaree Building.
Café Fergus played an important role in the community and we enjoyed supporting the many community groups down through the years.
